James is experienced as a trumpet soloist in several genres including classical, baroque, and commercial music. James is available for performances in church settings, with school band/wind ensemble/orchestras, and as a soloist for special or ceremonial occasions.
Church Music:
James performs as a trumpet player all across the Chicago area and the country in church services, church concerts, and special events. He is experienced in both mainline Christian, Catholic, and more contemporary Christian and Gospel environments. He has performed with many well-known musical artists and music directors/worship leaders including Michael Card, David Bullock, and Father James Marchionda.
Ceremonial Music:
This includes trumpet music for weddings, funerals, and other ceremonial occasions (special family events, corporate events, and holiday events).
Wedding Ceremony Music:
James has performed at over 500 wedding ceremonies throughout the USA. He will work with you to create the perfect mix of musicians and music to make your wedding day a memorable one.
James is available both as a soloist as well as in an ensemble. Typical configurations include trumpet with organ/piano as well as adding a vocalist, violinist, cellist, harpist, or a string trio/quartet.
Memorial/Funeral Service Music:
James will work with you in your time of grief and challenge to bring tasteful music to this very important day. When dealing with overwhelming grief music often has the ability to soothe us and bring comfort to us. It can also serve as a special reminder of the person and their life.
James is available as a trumpet soloist and can also bring in additional musicians. Typically a ceremony will include a pianist/organist and a trumpet. A vocalist is also very common. Additional musicians that work well in this circumstance include a vocalist, violinist, cellist, string trio/quartet, harp, or flute.
Orchestral and Opera Music:
James is a classically-trained and seasoned soloist and orchestral musician. He has performed as principal and section player in many orchestras and opera orchestras around the country. He has performed as principal trumpet with Operafestival di Roma Orchestra (Rome), North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra (Boston), Woods Hole Cantata Consort (Cape Cod, MA), the Opera Companies of Ash-Lawn-Highland (VA), New England Conservatory, Harvard and Dartmouth as well as with the Boston Civic Orchestra. James began his professional orchestral experience with three seasons as a section player in the Dubuque (IA) Symphony while pursuing his bachelor in music at the University of Iowa.
He is available to perform in area Orchestras, in special presentations of pieces like the Messiah or Bach Oratorios, as well in a variety of Opera and Musical theater Productions.
